Dr. Donna RiterDr, Donna Riter, Educational Trainer/Consultant has been in the field of education for over 37 years working with students in regular and special education in grade levels from preschool – 12+. Her experience in education as a teacher and administrator include speech/language therapist, classroom instructor, instructional assistant, vice principal for the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, Director of the Halpern Education Center Day Treatment program for the emotionally disabled, and adjunct professor at Nazareth College in Rochester NY. She has extensive training in a variety of areas and has developed and implemented numerous seminars for both special and regular education staff. Over the last 18 years she has trained over 30,000 people from administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, counselors, psychologists, law enforcement personnel, and parents in strategies and techniques to understand and address children who demonstrate challenging behaviors. Her work includes but is not limited to topics on: Understanding and Avoiding the Conflict Cycle, Keeping Everyone Safe: Strategies for the De-escalation of Challenging Students in Crisis, Behavioral Management Strategies in the Classroom, Safe Transportation of Challenging Students, Learning How to Get the Story Straight During Crisis, Understanding Bullies, Victims and Bystanders, Supervision and Leadership: The Process Of Change For Administrators, The Mask of the Passive-Aggressive Child, From Attention Seeking to Aggression: Motivators for Misbehavior-How to Recognize, Avoid and Remedy.
Dr. Riter has a Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in special education and speech and hearing disabled. She also has a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration, SAS and SDA. She completed her doctoral program in Executive Leadership at St. John Fisher College in Rochester NY.
Dr. Riter is a Senior Life Space Crisis Intervention Trainer for Dr. Nicholas Long, director of the Institute of Psychoeducational Training, formerly of American University.
